Erratic operation of EyeSight on Subaru Outback 2018

We own three Subaru Outbacks. Our 2017 Outback has the EyeSight system and it has always worked great.

Our 2018 Outback, purchased new in December, 2017, has suffered from erratic operation of the EyeSight feature from the beginning, but now it has gotten so bad that it is interfering with our use of the vehicle. The system beeps every few seconds and it gives us an error message and EyeSight (as well as cruise control) fails to work every few minutes. This happens without regard to the outside weather or light conditions. We have cleaned the front window (inside and out) and have wiped the sensors but it still defaults to its erratic mode at least once a day.

Since it works on occasion, we are reluctant to drive to Denver, rent a car and drive back to Vail, only to hear from the dealer that there is nothing wrong with the car.

Is this something that others have experienced? Do you have any suggestions as to how we can address this problem?

Wanted a new Subaru without roof rack

Talked to customer service, lady told me I couldn't order an Outback or Forester without a roof rack. Don't like them, wouldn't use it. Funny that you can get the base car without a roof rack, but force you to take one. Guess I'll buy something else.

Dead battery on a brand new forrester

Hello, over the weekend my Subaru Forester battery died multiple times. I was without transportation for 3 days and the car was towed to the dealership.

We have no family around. Subaru was aware my husband was away on business and I have small kids. They gave me the run around to not give me a rent a car. The battery was a faulty one .

The car is a 2017 Forester with barely any mileage. They were rude and condescending. Especially the secretary Marla who was like talking to a wall. Unprofessional and pompous.

Would not recommend them.

I had to call in sick for work due to no car and basically stranded for 3 days. Horrible service from Capitol Subaru San Jose Ca.

Friday 2/9/2018 I went to drop off my car because of the howling noise that I hear when I start up in the morning and also I’m due for oil change. I was st work the next day and said car is ready and told me about the recommendations.

I asked my mom and dad to pick it up for me because they close at 4 and I’m still at work . When my dad left the dealer he heard the loud noise underneath and thought that must be son was complaining about. Good thing my dad is a slow driver. When they got home my dad said that I cannot take that car to work on Monday the noise is not normal.

When I got home dad told me about the noise and drove few blocks and I was surprised about the loud noise like knocking underneath that I’m hearing. When I took my car to the dealer there’ s no knocking noise at all because that would be one thing I should’ve complained too. I googled just to see where would that noise might be coming from and there’s a video I played and they’re telling me to check the tires . I went to check my tires and to my surprise 4 LUG NUTS ARE MISSING , THEY INSTALLED JUST ONE and I don’t know how they forgot about it.

Do they not double check their work ? That is so dangerous. That would’ve killed my dad . That is totally negligence.

I called different numbers just to let them know what happened and said I need to wait Monday. I cannot drive my car to the dealer. They need to set up to tow it for me. And the bad thing is I need to miss work because of this problem they’ve caused me.

I really need to speak to somebody .

Where has my gps gone?

I am very disappointed to hear all of these negative reviews of the Subaru Forrester.I have 120,000 miles on it and the only thing that failed me was my gps- My other car is older and the gps is fine- So what one has to do is buy a new SIM card-which I had to pay for! Put the new SIM card in-AND then the voice does not work--Yes, Yes why don't I use my I-phone which I am doing--but I Paid for a gps- paid for a new SIM card (which they told me they wanted me to update-BS!-I drive to Florida and to Maine - and I do need my ups-customer service did to help-So now (I am in Maine) I have to drive to a dealer and get (what I think) new fuses!!!!! I intended to buy a new Subaru-BUT now after reading the horrible reviews-I am not sure!

Oil consumption on my 2017 impreza

Yes, i contacted the dealer and the finance company and they said i needed to contact subaru. I want to gife my car back. I dont have the time and money to.deal with the back and forth. Bought a brand new subaru impreza, and for every free oil change the low oil light went off 2, 3,4 wks before due date. In the end or 4th oil change required an oil consumption test because less than two wks after. Oil change. Low oil light went off. Not kool. Not kool at all. Paid too.much.money for car for this to happen. The maintenance tech said.it was because of the driver. Which is *** Been driving stick for years. Looking for excuses to.blame consumer. The Cleo bay subaru employees didnt want to.help.

Warranty doesnt cover my car!

Im having trouble with my 2015 subaru wrx with changing gears.when i change my gears to 3 my dashboard still on 2nd gear!!i took it to the SUBARU dealer in MAPUNAPUNA,HAWAII.First i review my warranty whats under before i went to my appointment the when i got there i ask the service rep (JUSTIN) if my car still under warranty.He sed they dont cover wear and tear,.i know in general they dont really cover wear and tear if its over and exceeded the warranty but my warranty specifically says WEAR Item Limited Warranty WEAR ITEM COVERAGE is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Items covered are brake pad/shoe linings, clutch linings, and wiper blades. My car is not even 36k or 3yrs.i even barely used my car.we bought it brand new.i never did do anything to my car, (not modified) and we even bought extended warranty!!So i checked in and he told me if the warranty wont cover then i have to pay 600-700 for diagnostic then another 2k if i wanted to proceed with the repair.but i ask him if he can check it first with the warranty if its cover then he called me back and saying that they dont cover it due to my clutch is worn out!!how can be worn out if i dont really use my car!!and plus even its worn out if still on the warranty arent they supposed to cover it anyway?thats why the price is Hight because its included with the warranty.and i have to pay extra just to have an extended..then he told me to call customer service,and i did and the lady (kimberly) sed that she is the highest manager on the island about this matter told me that due to the picture and the mechanic told her that its worn out then she denied me.she sed she cant cover under my warranty.she even give me a sarcastic voice when i told her i am not goin to agree what shes saying because i didnt use my car for a while it seems like she’s saying that i abuse my car!they cant just denied me because some other people use their car for racing and we are just using our car for commuting to work!not all the people are the same!i am really disappointed about my car!they shouldnt putting that warranty because thats a fulsification!

Forgetting to order my part

I took my 2013 xv in for a check engine light. The tech suggest a new coil. Was told they would order it, but I called at the end of the week waited 4 days and they never ordered the part. Now I have to wait another week.

Not happy with the CVT transmission.

I became a happy Subaru owner, ( my very first foreign make car ) when i purchased a brand new 2012 Forester. My 2012 was a great performing automobile with the 3 speed sport shift and duel exhaust. The CVT transmission is a joke ! Cheap to make, can't be repaired and so anemic on take off either when going from drive to reverse , that I feel like a sitting duck after backing out of my driveway. I would never try to back out when the car is cold, more dangerous than the lag time when warm. I will be going to the dealership today or Tuesday, as soon as I can try to get back my $2500 I put down on this sadly anemic excuse for a car. I have no other vehicle right now and am afraid of being killed or injured in this car. Your company should be ashamed of itself for foisting this ridiculous excuse of a poor drive train engineering design and using the ridiculous excuse that some consumers can " save fuel" and get better mileage. And why not? It's like driving the 1958 Mercury I had back in 1973. No performance , no pull and NO fun. I see multiple law suits coming. I will be at the forefront of them unless your company can fix this problem, and I do mean a problem. Sincerely and with great sadness , Timothy J. Richards Bloomington Indiana

they scratched the car when they sold it to me. took over a week to fix. now the problem is worse. i cant get an appt until july 11 and i called last week. they keep pushing me back. this should be a priority

I’ve owned two Subaru Outbacks, and though I love the car itself, I’ve had significant issue in quality on both cars. Both were known issues that affected vehicles of surrounding years, but “not my year”. I replaced head gaskets on my 2008 at a very young age, and now my 2015 is burning through oil like no one’s business, yet I’m being told it’s fine and normal to put oil in between oil changes. The 2013 & 2014 qualified for new engines when this happened. I am so disenchanted with Subaru because of these two incidents and my dealings with the corporate office. How do these companies get away with such unethical behavior? I am heartbroken because I love the Outback and I really didn’t want to find a new vehicle to fit my needs I urge all of you to think twice before purchasing a Subaru. I am angry that Subaru is getting away with this at my expense!!!

car ignition locked

The alarm went off as I was holding my keys, I turned off, got in the opened car and now the ignition is locked. Manual did not help. Called roadside asst. and was told my car has to be towed to nearest Subaru dealer...200 miles away. Will I be with the car when the tow comes?? Think not! Then when the dealer gets it, I will have to go get it! This is ridiculous. and I am NOT IN LOVE WITH MY SUBARU RIGHT NOW!!!

Bought a new Subaru to do from New York to Florida

Having done all service the Forester Gad a problem first at NY , the engine was replaced , then traveling down we had to stop at Greenville because the transmission was failing then we stayed there for 4 days to change the transmission

We began to travel and near Hilton Head the car began to split oil and not working

Again

We really need someone to contact us to help us to get to Coconut Creek Florida

ASAP

We need a car and somebody to take our Forester from here to Subaru Coconut Creek because we can’t wait more time

I would like to tell you all about my subaru story and how they treat there customers. I brought my 2015 wrx in for emissions recall 2 weeks later my engine blows up..

subaru paid for the tear down of the engine, but hung me out to dry on the rest so I had to pay 2600.00 out of pocket to get my car fixed. Took them to court and I won, and 7 months later they billed me for the rental car that I had while my car was being fixed. Most of the contact I have had is with SAM BROWN, who has been a NIGHTMARE to deal with( not returning calls, stalling me on getting my car fixed, 5 weeks it took and the only reason it was not longer is because i paid the rest of the bill). I had the car 2 1/2 years with no problems only had 26k, 2 weeks after they had it the engine blows up and they would not help me out.

Beware of SUBARU and there horrible customer service.

DO NOT BY A SUBARU, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!. I will keep posting this until they pay for the rental or until I have to take them back to court again ( which is probably the way it will have to work out), is this what u expect for a corporation?

Do not abide by previous price quoted

after a great deal of research I decided to look into buying a Subaru forester limited. I test drove the forester..

I was pleased so I made a deal with the local dealership.. I was quoted a price and I gave a deposit so that the car could be ordered. Within 2 days I received a call from the dealer saying the price quoted to me was a misquote and they quoted me a much higher price.. I feel that the dealership should abide by the first price quoted and that I should not be penalized for their error.

This is a breach of contract.

I would appreciate your help in solving this situation. thank you
