Customer service and help/assistance suck

I purchased Subaru Outback. The car is fine (so far). The assistance/service/follow up, in case of Subary caused problems SUCK; the people do not care. Once they sell you the car, they are done. I purchased the car for cash; my mailing address was put wrong (and mail/communications from Subaru) went to a wrong address, my Pinckney slip was issued to the back (Chase); next to impossible to get fixed six months after the purchase, the owner and managers of the dealership (South Coast Subary - Costco referral) would not call me back... I may sell the car and purchase another brand. I am upset...

I totally agree -- Subaru customer service SUCKS. I brought my car in 3x for a safety issue.

The service people never took the car out for a drive, just keep telling me there is nothing wrong. I finally got a supervisor to test drive and they agreed that there is indeed a problem and would order parts. The parts came and they never called me. When I called them, they told me that they sent the parts back because there is nothing wrong.

They never fix any warrantee items. Why did I buy an extended warrantee? That was a total waste of money. I feel like I am in a Saturday Night Live skit on bad service.

The bottom line, I regret buying a Subaru. I had a Honda prior and never had a problem with service.

Worst customer service I have ever received from such a large company. I would recommend people steer clear of Subaru as they have many problems with their vehicles such as oil consumption problems along with ringland failure with their 2008-**** Sti and wrx models yet have not done anything to take care of these matters.

Worst of all they don't follow laws and guide lines put in place for warranty matters. It's been two months with my 2014 Sti with 15,000 miles on it and had ringland failure and Subaru denied my warranty claim to fix it cause they suspect the vehicle has been messed with due to a heat shield missing( which I bought a spt heat shield for the car but never got a chance to put it on). The clips on my air filter box being different because when I changed the air filter I broke the clips and just went to a local auto part store for replacements. Then because I had a Subaru dealer install a cat back exhaust which has nothing to do with the motor it's self, yet they're still giving me a hard time.

Last but not least because my car battery died on me and the key count is low they're saying that a problem even tho the dealer tested my battery and it did come up weak. I just remember because my tires are alittle worn as well as my brakes and clutch that means I messed with the vehicle. I been asking for paperwork to prove what caused failure and what mods done to the vehicle to cause failure and haven't received anything. The dealer I'm working with says that they teared the motor apart and won't put it back together unless I fix it but the vehicle was running and driving I should at least have my vehicle returned to me in that way instead they gave me no warning of it not going to be able to be put back together.

I contacted Subaru of America and tried to see if they're willing to help and no luck I try talking to supervisors and they refuse to let me go hire up the corporate ladder. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY A SUBARU OR DEAL WITH A SUBARU DEALER BECAUSE OF THESE REASONS. I will be posting my story wherever the Subaru community is, and let them know how this company treats its customers after spending 40 plus thousands of dollars on a vehicle only a year old. So thank you Subaru for leaving me with a great paperweight that needs a 7000 dollar motor.

Once again be advised with the way Subaru deals with its customers!!! P.s they couldn't even offer me a rental what a shame.

Also i went to take a look at my vehicle yesterday and the dealer has damage my transmission and a lot of other parts on my vehicle while removing my motor. And it seems like they wet only my car outside and under the hood while other cars where dry

2016 Subaru Outback purchased in December, 2015. Immediately, I had a problem with speaker rumble. The car was brought in for maintenance, and they confirmed the problem. The parts were ordered and I returned again to have a door speaker replaced. Four months after purchase, the car/phone interface became unusable. I brought the car into maintenance, and they determined that the microphone had failed and again ordered the parts. I returned to the maintenance department to have the microphone replaced, which they did. Unfortunately, this was not the problem. Diagnostic tests pointed to a DCM module failure. Now the problem, the parts are on back-order and are not available. They are installing DCM modules everyday in new cars, but they are not available for replacement. Although they have provided a loaner car, I need to travel out of state for an upcoming move. I think it's reasonable to arrange for a replacement part from your factory sources. Poor maintenance support. No return phone calls from service advisor or maintenance supervisor on a recall issue. When I call Rivertown Suburu in Columbus, Georgia, I get lost in a maize of voice mail's and pushing buttons. Never talked to a human. I will never contact them again unless I have no other choice. I purchased my Forester from them when they were Jay Automotive in July of 2013. They are not the same since the ownership change. Much personnel turnover. I tried Jackson Automotive in Macon, Georgia. Talked to their maintenance supervisor on the first call. An operator picked up the phone on the first ring. They gave me a loaner while they addressed the recall issue. Friendly and supportive. The downside is that it is a further drive by 20 minutes.

People we all have common complaints lets start a class action lawsuit and get our right back. Took 2 people to file a lawsuit about the oil consumption issue and it now has turned into a class action lawsuit so maybe one more might change how we are all getting treated and sold cars that seem to have problems at 30,000 mile mark. They are vert aware but continue to avoid us thinking we will go away by making us feel helpless.

the navigation system rebooting and after the dealer replaced the unit it still does the same thing and now they want me to pay out of my own pocket, because they kept putting it off ordering a new unit, when the problem should of been fixed the first time. Don't buy subaru cars, they use to last now you are lucky if they last 2 to 3 years. They are disposal cars.

When we inadvertently do not completely tighten the gas cap, check engine comes on along wit eye sight off and x mode and several other daunting lights. Am attaching a photo of this absurdity.

Any newer car will give a check engine light from a loose gas cap! It is part of the OBDII protocol that checks the vapor recovery system.

The Eyesight can show a problem from a damaged (cleaning practice) camera or simply a fogged windshield.

Instead of complaining, why not just tighten the gas cap?

Windshield 2015

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
In June of 2015 I thought I had just purchased a top quality Subaru Outback. I was mistaken, on trial n error through experiences of the consumer the windshield material n design was merely a prototype. After 4 broken windshields I was offered the opportunity to increase my car payment 12.00 a month more n drive away w a 2016, or submit another claim n replace the 4th broken windshield. So now I'm up here at the dealer n papers come for signing, basically I paid 425.00 a month for 11 months n now In addition I'm paying 5,000.00 on my new 2016 Subaru my debt was down to 20,000.00. So how much did I pay for the outback windshield prototype? Very frustrated n don't like being one to pay for what I thought was a quality product.

Poor Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We bought our daughter a Subaru Outback 3 years ago from Prestige Subaru in Asheville, North Carolina. She tried to schedule her 30K service but only got automated messages with no return calls. She had great difficulty speaking with an actual person to discuss what service she actually needed. After many unreturned calls, she scheduled a service online. When she brought the car to the dealership she was told she had scheduled the wrong service and they couldn't schedule her again for a month. She was going on a road trip in 3 weeks and needed her service before that time but they would not work with us. This situation created a safety issue for our daughter. By the way, this is the only Subaru dealership in her city. My daughter and husband called the service manager, Jerry Hogan, and once again left many messages with no return call. The service advisor, David Lewis, was polite but would not help us. Very poor customer service. Even the respect of a return call from the manager would have been appreciated. Think again before buying a Subaru if good customer service is important to you.

Lets see, bought my wife a brz....nobody can fix the windows, that auto down when the door is open....they stay down. I'd be happy to disable it.

Put a wallet on passenger seat n airbag is on like someone is there. Noisy lifters, that the dealer made nothing but excuses for. Rearview mirror fell off.

Nice car to look at, but after 2 years of ownership and having to fix the car myself , the noisy lifters, because all anyone wants to do is blow smoke up my butt about, (they did not know I'm an ase cert. Mechanic), I put new lifters in, I disabled the utterly *** window down when you open the door, and put the new high pressure fuel pump in, that still sounds like a bunch of pissed off chipmunks, never again will we get a Subaru.

2006 Subaru Of America Impreza Wrx Sti Car Review from Santa Fe, New Mexico

My 2006 blew turbo at 78,000 miles ...replaced at subaru dealership ....new turbo lasted about 2000 miles .....turbo under warranty so replaced again .....200 miles down the road the piston rod gave out essentially meaning the POS needs a new engine .....subaru telling me there not at fault .....total *** ...obviously the engine couldnt handle the power of new turbo or something going on there .....even if its was deemed 'normal failure ' per se ....the engine shouldve lasted more then 80,000 miles before going .....i used to love my subi but probably will never iwn another ...why would i want a car that only lasts 80000 before engine failure or something catastrophic like that ...

IPod Problems

I have a 2016 Forester. When I try to use my iPod Classic on the USB port it plays a couple of songs then freezes up.

I can unfreeze it, of course, but not while I am driving! Sometimes the battery discharges, as well. This is extremely annoying. But I find I am not alone.

Many Subaru owners -- Outbacks, Foresters, Legacies -- have had the same problem and have found the dealerships unable to handle it. This is a problem at the manufacturing level, and it would seem that Subaru ought to work it out and issue a recall.

Preferred solution: Subaru should recognize, define, and correct the problem for all owners of 2016s.

2015 Outback windshield

Subaru Of America - 2015 Outback windshield
Subaru Of America - 2015 Outback windshield - Image 2
My new Subaru with 4300 miles was sitting in the garage for two weeks while I was vacationing. The temperature during that time dropped into the single digits. After vacation, I popped into my barely used car and the front windshield had shatttered into no less than 6 spiderwebby type fractures. I was horrified. Immediatly checked on line and found 100's of similar complaints about the 2015 Outback windshield. I certainly thought the dealer would cover mine since it was not due to a rock chip and was SO extensive in nature. Took it in and the service rep determined that all were due to "rock chip encounters. He did this by putting a pen tip where ever 2 cracks crossed each other. The result of 2 glass fractures will 100% of the time cause a small indentation. The dealer basically said "tough luck lady" and waved me byebye even when I pointed out the plethora of complaints about this issue. Come on SUBARU step up!
