Check engine sensor light tripped again, 4th time in 14 months). The check engine function thereby disables the cruise control and causes 2 other warning lights to flash.
Technician blames it on ethanol gas. After 3rd time, rather than merely cleaning the sensor, we had to replace sensor-$300 plus. After less than 6 months, the sensor tripped again. We have mostly been using ethanol free gas since the 3rd episode.
The maddening thing is that the car runs fine except for cruise control. Ethanol gas is a fact of life now.
This is fundamentally a poorly designed part. I would not encourage anyone to buy this model of Subaru or any Subaru for that matter.
