I Love my Outback Subaru. I truly do but I am beside myself. Do I spend more money to fix it or make a piece of art work out of it and set it on a pedestal in a museum. You see I bought this Subaru, my first foreign car because I thought it would last me at least 100,000 miles. In fact the dealer from which I bought it from even offers service packages for 100,000 to 200,000 mile customers for Subaru. Wow, huh!

Well I guess this must have been one of your lemons. It has had three Turbos in it including the original. Subaru was kind enough to help me pay for the third one though so I will thank you for that again. Of course at under 70,000 miles why would I even need three turbos.

A few months ago I had an oil leak which cost me about 800.00. Yeah, guess it was hard to get to. So I had it fixed. Then when I got home I discovered it was still smoking so I took it back the next day. Yep, they found another leak but the dealer was kind enough to just charge me the parts. So I drove it away and stopped by work noticing smoke. Oh my, not another leak? Well maybe it was just oil burning off on the engine from all the work. I'll wait awhile and see if it burns off. So after a week and still smoke I take it back again. Now it's the valve cover gaskets. Only 500 and some bucks but kind of the dealer to give me a break at 376.00. So I drive it away.

That was Saturday and after going to church and home I set in for a relaxing evening finally with all this behind me. Sunday I get up to go out and what is that sound to my surprise when I turn the wheel. Argh.... I don't know. A mouse maybe, a cat in the engine perhaps. So Monday I call and am told to bring it in Tuesday. I drop it off and they call a few hours later. It's your power steering pump they say. Kindly as if I was really listening the service manager tells me he will ask Subaru if he can get a deal on the part. What kind of deal I ask. Oh about 600.00. My gosh what a deal. It takes you three times to fix oil leaks and having had to take the engine apart in who knows how many ways my Subaru with only 69,000 miles on it need a power steering pump? LOL... Yes, sorry laugh out loud. Are you kidding me. And only a few day before Christmas. My sister tells me how happy she is she did not buy a Subaru. I told her how much love she is missing though. Love from corporate Subaru and the local dealer. Yep, love from the local dealer cause after telling the owner that they must have broken the steering pump and her telling me in short terms how much she supports her service department. Hang on... Yep I know you are excited. It's almost Christmas. Mr George, Merry Christmas the owner says. We are going to replace your steering pump for free.

And I drive away after a few hours of work in my washed and feels like new Subaru.

And days later it snowed and snowed and snowed so I went out and drove a Jeep Cherokee. A four wheeler. Wow it was just amazing. Couldn't even get up a bump of a hill in that snow but the inside amenities were awesome. Maybe if I turned it inside out it would work. So I drive across to my Subaru dealer and try out the new Outback and Crosstrek. Can't beat a Subaru in the snow. It'll go just about anywhere. Love that Crosstrek but why no power seats. Not crazy about the 4 cylinder outback but that is all the dealer has for me to try. Try's to talk me into something I don't want like not much power compared to my present Outback which I am not loving as much as I once did.

So why am I writing? Well I still have an oil leak. I think I know where it is but that is not the reason. Yeah, I bet you are sad to. All that work and this poor customer of ours still has an oil leak. Aww that's not so bad. It just a small leak. I mean at now 70,000 miles what can you expect. In the dead of winter in Ohio how about no heat. Well let's hope when I call tomorrow and hopefully get it in its just a fuse? Well hells bells, why isn't the green engine light on. Cause it's love honey and love is red except not for this piece of *** I own.

No I am not ROTFLMAO.

Addendum: It has been a month or so since I wrote by this. Heat is variable because guess what. Come on, guess. Oh ok. The radiator has a leak in it. Oh joy. Was just about to say go ahead when then the BOMB hit me by the service dept.. Mr. George it looks like that oil leak is coming from near the turbo so the turbo could be going out. Of course we don't know that for sure say the manager.

When I was just a lad of ten, my father said to me,

"Come here and take a lesson from the lovely lemon tree."

"Don't put your faith in love, my boy", my father said to me,

"I fear you'll find that love is like the lovely lemon tree."

Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet

But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.

Love, it's what makes a Subaru a Subaru

I am responding to this post as the one who posted it.

Well folks I just purchased a new Subaru Outback. Subaru Corp offered me an incentive but that is not why I purchased another Outback.

I had many good years with the Outback above.

There were problems, yes and though I think some were bad parts I really need to blame the dealer I had it serviced at. The third turbo that blew was just after(and I mean ten minutes after I drove away from the dealer)they replaced some belts. I didn't think of anything then till this series of oil leaks happened and then the power steering pump going out. The first turbo (the one that came with the car)lasted nearly seven years.

Glad I had an extended warranty that covered the second turbo.

I think the dealer caused that third turbo to go out, definately the power steering pump and perhaps the radiator leak too. They were in that engine so much during the oil leak fixes they may have dropped something on the radiator.

I did not go back to that dealer to buy my new 2014 Subaru Outback. I got it at Park Auto Group. They have a great record of sales and service.

The sales person was great. I bought a new one for a number of reasons. First and foremost is that nothing gets through snow like a Subaru. I test drove a new Jeep Cherokee during one of the worst snowfalls this year in NE Ohio.

I did not trust its footing on the roads and when the dealer had me try a small hill it slipped and barely made it up. I took two Subaru's out and sure enough as I knew they got out of everything I usually do with my Subaru. I volunteer in a national park where I live and I need to go and feel confident I can get around. Subaru Corp helped me with the purchase of the third turbo and offered me an incentive to buy another.

I know it may sound corny but Subaru owners take pride in their vehicles. I don't know what it is but I liked my old messed up Outback and wanted another. No turbo though.

No Subaru did not ask me to write this.

I am off to Google to write a bad report on that lousy dealer so others will know. During that bad snowfall they did not want to go out in that stuff. I cleaned off both cars I tried.

Well they lost a sale and more.
