We took our 2013 Outback to have the rocker molding reattached. The tech at the dealer service center replaced the clips with new clips which did not solve the problem.
They charged us $195. We asked them to redo the job and they said we need a new molding (something we weren't told the first time). This would cost an additional $176. They said the first tech should have done that instead and admitted poor communication.
They also admitted the rocker molding is a poor design prone to this issue. After several trips back and forth to the service center at great inconvenience to our family, we decided we would rather have a refund and attempt the repair ourselves. They refused to give our money back even though the job was not done and the new clips were just floating around inside the broken molding. We believe the original repair was a bait-and-switch or at least done in bad faith.
A refund seems reasonable but even escalating to Subaru of America did not help; they sided with the dealer service center and would not refund our $190. In principle, this is very poor customer service and we'd like your help to address this.
