2013 Forester, purchased new. Dealer replaced short block a month ago. New engine making a loud whinning noise. They told me it was the alternator pulley, so they replaced it. WRONG. So then they said it was the oil pump and replaced it along with the timming cover....

Any update on whether or not the issue was fixed? I found a decent looking 2013 but I don't want to get into a huge problem waiting to happen.

Subaru Of America in Bronx, New York - Poor customer service

4.2
Details
brought my 2013 imprezza back to milea Subaru in the Bronx for 7500 mile service with oil change. I was told it would take 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I said fine and went to the local diner. To kill some more time, I went over to the showroom to look at the new model and I had a question for the sales person. He barely looked up at me, mumbled an answer and went back to playing games on his cellphone. The 1 1/2 to 2 hours ended up taking 4 hours. The service manager was a nice guy but I was told several times how they are almost finished. 4 hours? That's crazy. I decided that I will never buy another car or use the service department from that dealer. I do however love the car.

I bought my 2008 Subaru Tribeca with 32,000 miles and was so excited as it was my dream car. At 36,000 miles it started to make a crazy sound so I took it to my dealership- long story short the entire short block was replaced and the dealership was terrible. I filed...

Subaru Of America in Whitethorn, California - Subaru 2012 limited Impreza oil nightmare. New engine and now leaky gasket!!!

Bought the car new for my college bound daughter. Oil always quart low and dealer says no problem. 30 oil changes and finally dealer says it can't pass oil consumption test. Replaced lower engine block. Gave my 19 year old college daughter a car to drive while car in shop for 3 weeks, after 4000 miles bring back well she has since moved to Oregon for school and went in to dealer for the 4000 mile checkup, leaky gasket can't gaurantee that is all it is. However they will not give her a car to drive for she is not 25 so what the heck is a full time student/ athlete to do. As her mom I live 5 hours away. We have been more than patient but the first time subaru experience sucks!!!!! Very disappointed consumer.

Subaru Of America - Head Gasket issues

Just took my Subaru Forester in for the 105,000 mile routine service and found out that my Head Gasket was leaking oil. Sounds like this is an ongoing problem for Subaru. My car is almost paid off and this is my second purchase of a Subaru. I am a loyal consumer and do routine maintenance on my car. I guess I am asking if there is any assistance as the car will now cost me $2,700.00. I have two children that we are desperately trying to save for there college and do not have the funds for this type of repair. I had saved $1,000 and new it might go over, but to double that was just a shock. Anything that Subaru can do would be appreciated. A valued customer!

Subaru Of America in Franklin, Tennessee - Subaru Impreza 2012

It appears that subaru customers should consider a class action against subaru. These oil loss issues are not normal. I have never owned a vehicle that consumed this much oil and if they say its normal then customers should have been informed. The mechanics are just repeating what they are told to say. This was my first and last subaru. Unfortunately it was the first time I chose to buy a new car. As I look around online it appears subaru has some real issues on this subject and they are blowing off their customers. Bottom line.. with all this unhappy customers they are not likely to buy again and we share with family and friends about our experience. I've talked two people out of buying subaru for this very issue. Funny thing is they don't have to take my word for it. Just search the web for yourself. Social media doesn't tolerate business incompetence. If you screw up admit it and then fix it.

I've had the same problem with mine. The finally replaced the lower engine block.

Now thinking great problem fixed oh so wrong now I have a leaky head gasket. Done with this car and the Subaru dealer where I have since moved due to college will not give me a car to drive since I'm not 25, this was never a problem before. I don't know what to do.

Awful first car experience! Demand an oil consumption test!!!!!!

Subaru Of America in Austin, Texas - Baja-engine leakage -- poor engineering design

We have Baja Subaru 2004 about 66,000 miles but now they told us we have to spend extra about 6,000 dollars due to poor engine design . It has a leakage on it . It's not a on warranty services anymore.. We have to pay extra money for the poor engine design. We take care of our car and take it to the services that needed such as oil change , filter, tire rotation and other services that our car needed. We do love our car and we have so much memories with it. The sad things with it it's seems we do our part to take of it but due to poor design of engine , all the efforts we provided is still not enough to keep car good . Why we have to pay for the poor design ? Why don't contact the customer if this is a recall ? This is a manufacturing and design problem it should be a part of warranty? We brought our car brand new and yet we're not inform about this problem. What happen to our warranty services on this?

Subaru Of America in Hyattsville, Maryland - '11 Forester - Engine failure at 80k

After burning 6 quarts of oil every 2k miles and my dealership telling me its completely normal for a newer Subaru to burn oil, my POS '11 Forester has finally bit the dust after 88k miles. Not only that, but the oil light has never once gone off. After filing an official complaint over a month ago, I've gotten zero help from the dealership (Valley Motors - Maryland) and even less from Subaru corporate. Keep in mind, I have brought this up with the dealership every time I've brought my car in for service. How can a company with such an insanely loyal customer base produce such an insanely finicky/needy automobile? -Subaru Case# 1-4479302545

Interesting to see this about 2011 Forrester. Mine *** out after just 20,000 miles.

They say it never happens but it happened to me. Suburu national and my dealer were both very uncooperative and rude too the point of almost making me have a total breakdown. Since I was under warranty they mickey moused an engine from used parts and new parts. Since then, it has burned oil constantly and runs really rough.

I have had it back an forth to the shop continually. They have paid for repairs and rentals. With what they have spent they could have given me another car, which they should have. They keep trying to sell me a new one, as if I would.

I bought based on reputation, it is not a pretty car or nor is Subaru very up on the latest features, but that reputation is worthless. Subaru national even admitted to me that they gave me terrible customer service but would do nothing.

They even tried to get me to sign a waiver so I could not make another claim on this car? Unconscionalble and unethical.

The motor in my 2011 Impreza Outback Sport died at just over 40,000 miles. I coasted into a local repair shop, and three mechanics swore that the oil tank was over-full and smelled of gasoline. Subaru insisted I have the vehicle towed over 50 miles to the nearest...

In same boat. Have 2016 Wrx sti.

Cylinder #2 went bad with only 12000 miles.

Subara claims abuse and aggressive driving. Aggressive driving really?

It's a STI

First the said they needed to see if car was modified. When that didnt work on to next excuse.

I got a "tune up" at a Subaru dealer. They didn't even change my oil and filter, charged $350 and sent me home unknowingly with 2 mice nests and a chewed through wire in my engine. Had I not looked under the hood the next day, I wouldn't have known any of...
