I purchased a 2017 Outback new in August 2016. It is now June 2019 - 34 months into my warranty.
To date, the car has had the following defects:
1) battery died at 30 months, which WAS covered under the special battery warranty
2) Front passenger widow no longer operates
3) The clear coat paint seal is peeling off the front of the car.
Subaru will not warranty items 2 or 3 because I have driven out of the 36,000 mile warranty (by 10,000 miles). I can almost understand the window not being covered since the number of miles can indirectly correspond to wear on that device.
I CANNOT understand why the number of miles drive impacts the quality of the paint job. The car is 34 months old, has never been exposed to hail, bad winters, snow, salt, etc.
(it's a South Texas car). I have owned dozens of vehicles over the years, have treated them all similarly and none of them have had a paint job fail this early.
This will be my last Subaru if this does not get fixed.
