It has been 17 months since I bought my 2017 Outback 3.6R I finally decided to set up a MySubaru.com account. I could not do so because my VIN "could not be activated." I researched and found this meant that Subaru still had my VIN listed under the previous owner. I...

Pros
  • Tough reliable nice looking vehicle
Cons
  • Vin number listed as belonging to previous owner
  • Mysubaru website works poorly
  • Customer service did not explain what i needed to do
Reason of review
Access/ activation issues
Preferred solution
1) Assign the VIN number to the new owner when a car is sold. 2) Fix the website so it actually works correctly when one tries to set up an account.

Here is an idea, put more gas in the tank and you won't run out. What have we consumers turned into?

Never let you car go below 1/4 tank. Have a flashlight.

Check your tire pressure. Stop relying on a toll free number to bail you out because you are irresponsible.

I have had several problems with my 2016 Outback, and the Subaru Corporate response is terrible. 1) Stuck at a gas station unable to put gas in because of a defective fuel door that was a known issue to Subaru. When I asked customer service if there had been a notice...

I also had to replace the battery at 2 and a half years, and am having trouble with the key not releasing from the ignition after the car is in park. Dealer said he know of the problem and it is not covered by warranty.

Lots of 2016 Outback’s seem to have this problem and it is a $200 part and $150 to install it.

It seems to only affect 2016 Outback’s, just like the battery failing at 2 and a half year. Guess I need to buy a different brand car.

Subaru Of America - Unintended acceleration of a 2017 Forester XT
On 9/30/18 while parking the car at our cabin in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State the car accelerated from idle to full throttle when the steering wheel was turned to the right. Within a distance of approx. 22 ft. the car launched itself towards a 12 ft. x 20...

First thing to do is file a complaint with the federal government at: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/ Then, start with Subaru corporate and report the problem and see what they intend to do. You might want to do some more research online into the problem you had with the car to find out more info on other people's problems and any efforts by anyone to get action from Subaru.

Check to see if there are any recalls on the vehicle. At least your insurance should rectify most of the financial costs, but then again, they will probably raise your rates.

I had the same problem a long time ago with a VW and ended up trading it in before anything bad happened. VW denied, of course there was any problem.

Subaru Of America - Review in Dealers category from Redmond, Washington

People we all have common complaints lets start a class action lawsuit and get our right back. Took 2 people to file a lawsuit about the oil consumption issue and it now has turned into a class action lawsuit so maybe one more might change how we are all getting treated and sold cars that seem to have problems at 30,000 mile mark. They are vert aware but continue to avoid us thinking we will go away by making us feel helpless.

Subaru sold us 2013 lemon. Engine has been pulled twice and still under 30,000 miles. Under bumper to bumper warrany but trying to get them to fix the problem is like pulling teeth. We have the oil consumption problem asked them to do the test to prove its burning oil and what does the dealership do over filled our oil by alot. We have rusty engine parts and car just is problem after problem. I have many calls into Subaru of America and just get the run around. So pissed that Subaru screwed us on a brand new car and dont want to do anything about it to make right.Well they did offer to knock off 1500 if we bought another brand new car. Are you kidding me we would be losing thousands on our first new car we bought. What happened to good honest people that care about the product and the consumer and not just making a buck. Think twice before you by a Subaru they will just avoid you if any problem comes up.
